SMA Staydown®, for babies with significant reflux. A nutritionally complete formula for the dietary management of babies with significant reflux (regurgitation/spitting up), when they are not being breastfed. It thickens in the tummy and not in the bottle. It can be used as the sole source of nutrition from birth in place of your usual formula feed, and can be mixed with foods once weaning has begun. Reflux often occurs because a baby's digestive system is immature.SMA Staydown contains a natural corn starch (maize) which helps the feed settle more easily in baby's tummy. It should be made up with chilled water that has previously been boiled. It is a normal consistency in the bottle and will flow through a standard teat. Consult a healthcare professional before first use and if no change is seen after 2 weeks of use.

Preparing your baby's feedWhilst this product is made under strict hygienic conditions, it is not sterile.Failure to follow instructions on preparation and storage may make your baby ill.SMA Staydown needs to be made up with chilled water that has been previously boiled.1. Wash hands well. Sterilise all utensils according to manufacturer's instructions.2. Boil fresh tap water. Allow boiled water to cool for no more than 30 minutes. Measure the required amount of water (see feeding guide) into the sterilised bottle, carefully - the water is hot. Do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water.3. Place teat and cap on bottle and cool bottle under running water, or in a jug or bowl of cold water, then refrigerate until chilled. Use water within 24 hours. Water Must Be Chilled Prior To Adding Powder.4. Prepare each feed as and when your baby needs it. Using the scoop provided, add the correct number of scoops of powder to the refrigerated water (see feeding guide), levelling off each scoop with the back of a clean dry knife. Replace plastic lid on can.5. Replace the sterilised teat and cap on the bottle and mix the powder and water together by Rolling The Bottle Vigorously Between Your Hands - Do Not Shake.6. Allow feed to reach room temperature and feed as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours. Do Not Warm Feed As It Will Cause Milk To Thicken.
Important Feeding InformationDo not add extra powder or water to make the feeds stronger or weaker and do not press powder into scoop. Using too much or too little powder can make your baby ill.For hygienic reasons, discard unfinished feed in the bottle as soon as possible, and always within 2 hours. For older babies, made-up formula can be added to food but not heated.Flows through standard teat. For enteral use only.Do not use with other feed thickeners or antacids.Never add any food to the milk in your baby's bottle.Do not warm feeds in a microwave as it will cause milk to thicken, and hot spots may occur and cause scalding.Remember, cow's milk should not be used as a drink during the first year.Scoop may become submerged in the powder during transit.
